Turns out that among all the mass chaos going on in China and Myanmar, there is a good story bubbling up to the surface. China’s panda bears that are being held in captivity in a nature preserve seem to have survived the quake. “Pandas sleep at the China Giant Panda Protection and Research Center in Wolong, in southwest China’s Sichuan province Tuesday, April 1, 2008. Eight pandas chosen by an online poll were unveiled at the center last Saturday and will be sent to Beijing Zoo on May 24. Approximately 10 million online votes were cast for the pandas, which will be on exhibition for six months for visitors in Beijing before, during and after the 2008 Olympic Games.
