If asked to name some ferocious sea creatures, most people would say a shark, a barracuda, a piranha or anything else Hollywood loves to sensationalize. What usually doesn’t come to mind is the giant trevally, a rare species of fish found primarily in Southeast Asia and Australia. As this footage captured by YouTube user Luca Ghinelli shows, the giant trevally is one predator you don’t want to mess with.
The video was filmed on an island of The Maldives and shows a small group of giant trevallies on the attack against a group of sardines. The species is renowned for their clever hunting strategies and the speed at which they attack, both of which are on display here.
