They’re probably doing some kind of scientific research out there. Basically all you do is set up a camera and let it roll then come back the next day and watch all the feed for anything exciting. Some cameras are super fancy and they have a motion detector so if anything moves, it’ll turn on. If this is the case, then they definitely got really lucky catching this!
